Traffic
 Siting a development as large as that proposed at Barton Farm would generate enormous road traffic problems for Winchester. The additional traffic load cannot be mitigated within the constraints imposed by a historic city with road infrastructure not designed with such gross expansion in mind. Flooding
 The Save Barton Farm Group asserts that development proposed at Barton Farm would, while protecting its own structures from flood nuisance, considerably increase the risk of flooding in the neighbouring villages of Kings Worthy and Headbourne Worthy and downstream in Winchester.
